Ready To Go Public

Once you have completed your entire site, and are ready to "go public" with it you have a couple of decisions to make. You must choose a web server and a domain name. The web server retains all of your files and allows them to be downloaded by users who wish to view your site. There are many things to require when choosing a web server, these include necessary security level for your information, need for database access, how many users will be "hitting" your site, web programming languages, and how much storage space do you need (for current files and future expansions).

The following two web hosts are very competitive but it is important to point out the differences. Not all servers are right for all web sites. While the prices are not that different, look at the differences in features between competing packages. Both of these hosts provide a free domain name when you sign up. Both offer tools to help you create a new site. Brinkster offers 400 email accounts and Yahoo only offers 25. Yahoo offers 2 gigabytes of storage while Brinkster only offers 1 gigabyte. Both offer database support, but Brinkster offers 100 MB of MySQL storage. Yahoo offers ready to use PayPal buttons if you have a site on which you will be selling anything. As you can see there is a lot of give and take when choosing one host over another, it is best to look them over yourselves and find which is best for your needs. The following links are to Brinksters and Yahoos hosting pages.
